Interview in Colombia- Alex’s dream

“It would be a dream to write a song with Ismael Serrano, Joaquin Sabina or Alejandro Sanz”, says Alex in an interview with El Heraldo.co.

Alex was promoting his new album in Colombia last week, where he also had the chance to enjoy his fans’ company and taste sancocho de costilla and ajiaco (typical dishes). “It is always a pleasure to come to Colombia”, says Alex, who claims that he was inspired by  the good side of love to write the songs of his new album. “There’s a bit of melancholy in it, because that’s my musical style, but this is a more positive album, a very romantic one “. And he discovered this side of love in part thanks to his son Pablo, who is turning one year old in a few days. “Love comes in many ways and my son is the most incredible prove there can be of the biggest love. It has been an amazing experience.”

When asked about the evolution of his music from his first CD ¿Qué pides tú? to his latest “Mentiras sinceras”, Alex said that the new album includes songs that resemble those from his previous work and others that are completely different, there’s a variety of rhythms. “I’ve been writing songs about personal feelings, love, real situations that affect me or that I see around me, and that’s where you can see the evolution and maturity of this record. There are songs that talk about love in a more compromised way, even everlasting love, there’s also a song I wrote for my son, so you can see these are topics I wouldn’t think of when I was 20 years old and recording my first CD. Every album is connected to a moment in my life and that’s what makes them different”.

Alex also talked about “Alex, Jorge y Lena”, his previous work with Lena Burke and Jorge Villamizar. “Jorge is a great writer, I got the chance to sit with him and write some lyrics, drink some wine, chat and write… (laughing) it was the part I enjoyed the most” said  Alex, who wrote the song “Puedes ser tú” with Jorge and many other from his new album during that period.

“I’ve been honored through the course of my 12-year career to play and record with great artists. There’s have to be a special connection with someone to be able to collaborate with and I really enjoy having another point of view of music, I find it very interesting and fun”.

When asked whom he’d like to make a duet with, he replied: “If you ask me what my dream would be, I’d say to write a song with Ismael Serrano, Joaquin Sabina or Alejandro Sanz.
